Report Designer Overview

reportcustomizeBesides the fast reporting available in MyCon on any of your Grid Views, MyCon also incorporates a full and very advanced report writer and generation tool. The MyCon Report Designer can be invoked by opening any of your Reports/Templates folders in your Folders list, i.e. found below either a specific database or below the root connection folder.

led-triangle-green Because a report template is specific to a database, it is preferable that you not start a new report template from the Connection/Reports/Templates folder, rather start and save it in the database where your data is. Each time you save your report template you will be prompted to save a "Root connection" copy as well. If however you do start a new report in the connection's Reports/Templates folder, be sure to supply it with a databasename and connection information before invoking the designer, else the designer will have no idea how and which tables to use for your report. When a report design is started in a specific database, all this is obviously done for you in the background.

Please see Create a Report for quick and easy steps guiding you through the report designing process.

A few things are important to take note of:
·Reports in MyCon exists and are displayed in one of two formats, one is as a Report Template (thus a report which is designed but contains no pages, just the full definition, connection parameters, SQL, data design and report design), in short it is just a template for a future report to be printed. The other format is a Archived Report, thus a report which was generated using a Report Template. An archived report was then already executed and contains only the generated pages and no template information.
·A Report Template in MyCon is completely autonomous, meaning, contained in the template file are all definitions, configuration and even your MySQL connection information (password is encrypted) to be able to generate the report again.
·On the toolbar of a Report Template you will find a Schedule button, which you can click to automate a specific report's periodic generation using MyRun. Remember to supply your windows username and password to the resulting Task, so the process can run autonomously.
